National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) Center for Postsecondary Research Indiana University School of Education Sponsoring the HIPs in the States Track http://nsse.indiana.edu/ The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) and its affiliated surveys, FSSE and BCSSE, help institutions assess quality in undergraduate education and strengthen the learning environment. Topical modules on inclusivity and cultural diversity, advising, and students experiences with writing, and updated reports and online tools provide evidence of educational effectiveness. NSSE is administered annually to first-year and senior students at participating institutions. Results provide valid, reliable information on the extent to which students engage in proven educational practices that correspond to desirable learning outcomes. More than 1,600 bachelors-granting institutions have participated in this effort to assess and improve undergraduate education. Institutions receive diagnostic information about teaching and learning, with customizable comparison groups, and resources to assist in interpreting and using results.
